Anderson CDC History

Named for Austin educator L.C. Anderson, Anderson CDC was established and incorporated in 1984 following recent block grant funding in the mid-1970s. Created from the Robertson Hill Steering Committee, Anderson CDC was organized as a 501c3 non-profit at its creation and was envisioned to build affordable homes for low-and moderate-income east Austin families.  The first project by Anderson CDC turned a $450,000 grant into five new homes that were made available to qualified applicants on a lease and purchase basis.

To date, Anderson CDC’s activities include the construction of five new single-family housing units (1986); the acquisition and rehabilitation of two housing units (1988 and 1991); and development of 25 housing units in the Anderson Hill Neighborhood (1995 – 2000). In 2011, Anderson CDC worked on the construction of a new single-family housing unit, and now has plans to develop a 24-unit multifamily complex in partnership with The City of Austin throughout 2013.
